Hi, I'm Jen — the artist behind Made by Burbs.
I'm an illustrator and graphic designer based in sunny Southsea, on the south coast of England. I live a five-minute walk from the sea with my husband and my nearly-three-year-old, Otis, who is already an enthusiastic stick collector and shark egg hunter.
Everything starts outside - in my garden, in a rock pool, or in my Dad's allotment.
From sketchbook to your shelf
Made by Burbs has been my creative alter ego since social media began — a label I'd stick on anything I made, whether that was a sewing project, a drawing, or something crafted at the kitchen table.
After becoming a mum, I realised making art wasn't just something I did on the side — it was the thing I actually wanted to be doing. So I stopped treating it like a hobby and started building it into something real.
Every piece starts as a sketch, gets painted in gouache or built up in Procreate, and ends up on your wall, your mantelpiece, or someone's birthday card.
